Welcome to the JaX-Wares Nifty Stuff Page

So What's "JaX-Wares"??

Glad you asked! JaX-Wares is just the stuff that JaX writes for himself, but thinks other people might like too. This page will probably be growing over time to include more cool little do-hickys and what-nots as I find the need. Every thing you will EVER find here will be FREEEEE. I gratefully accept small donations to help pay for my reference books (which are outrageously expensive) at Jackson MacLoed, PO Box 638, Georgetown, CT 06829.

If there are any neat little tools you'd like to have, let me know. I'm always looking for stuff to do!

So Who's JaX??

JaX is (ME!) a systems developer with over ten years of front-line experience that was so fed up with the sloppy, inefficient, marketing driven direction that the computer industry has taken, that he almost QUIT! Then I found Delphi and Object Pascal from Borland. I'd always viewed PASCAL as a useless educational language, but after seeing the way Borland adapted PASCAL to the Object Oriented Programming theories, I was hooked! Can you believe that there is actually a programming language out there focused on SPEED and EFFICIENCY??? I couldn't either till I tried it. Their documentation (and especially help files) SUCK! But the platform itself is very stable, powerful, and EASY to work with.

My first offering: The TrayCD Thing

Well, here 'tis. Not much to it really. When you run it, it shows up on your system tray and you can right click it to get CD commands from a pop-up menu or open a tiny control bar. The "tool-tip" shows the CD's status or current Track/Time counter. It's small, resource-light, apparently reliable, and it's for free! The ZIP file has no installation program to make it a quicker download, but if you'd like to have a complete Install Shield Installation/De-Installation, just email me and I'll make one just for you.

Please send email to mac@jax.nai.net to let me know if you like it (or not). It's a really neat feeling knowing that people "out there" enjoyed a gift from a total stranger.

ENOUGH! JUST LET ME DOWNLOAD IT!

Coming Soon: Notes Should Grow on Trees!

I like to take notes in a nice orderly fashion. I love working from an outline. I've never found a product that let’s me do this the way I want, though. Word is slow and sloppy as a note taking implement. There are a few nice hierarchical text editors out there (Check out ScopeEdit), but they are more for programming and don't have much in the way of formatting or printing options. So my solution: An object tree just like Explore uses for navigating folders attached to a mini word processor (derived from the Microsoft Foundation Class for Rich Editor for you chip-heads out there). Basic word processing capabilities managed through a structured tree with complete text formatting, printing, storage, and maybe even object imbedding if I get REALLY adventurous.

Stay tuned to you local Freeware source for a release notice, or email me and request that you be put on my notification list for this project if you're interested.
